Micol lounge R1 signed Sititaly awarded at the Interzum Forum Italy Award 2024

Sititaly Interzum Forum Italy (1)

The first edition of Interzum Forum Italy, the leading exhibition dedicated to the latest innovations in subcontracting for furniture and interior design, has just ended; on 6 and 7 June, the Bergamo Fair was the stage of this highly anticipated international event signed Koelnmesse.

We at Sititaly will remember this year for a long time since our Micol lounge R1has been awarded at the Interzum Forum Italy Award 2024 for the ESG & Sustainability category.

The jury, composed of international experts in environmental matters, technological innovation and trend setting, awarded the model signed by Sititaly for its innovative character and its concern regarding environmental sustainability. The durability of the product has been particularly appreciated, because, thanks to its design and construction materials, it exceeds the idea of the “disposable” seat at the end of life. This model opens new reflections in the world of seating: at the end of its use we no longer think only about how to recycle the construction materials, since 80% of the one that makes up the body is reusable. It will be enough to replace the flexible parts and the seat will basically become new.

And this is one of the reasons that led the jury to reward us and to include our model among the products that will guide future developments in the supply chain.

Interzum 2024 trends: innovation and sustainability

In this first Italian edition, which hosted 200 exhibitors from 20 countries, numerous solutions to the current problems of the sector were presented, with an eye to the future of the supply chain in the furniture industry.

After the exceptional growth in 2021-2022, the Italian furniture industry has suffered a natural slowdown, amplified not only by the global situation weakened by the decline in demand and the increase in the prices of raw materials and components, but also the need to introduce innovative solutions to respond to the growing awareness of consumers towards digitalization and sustainability.

For this reason, Italian furniture manufacturers today prioritize investment in product research and innovation, focusing on service-oriented strategies and business models. The search for innovative solutions has led to great results, which are projected into a digital and sustainable future, with news and trends in the subcontracting sector that have been the protagonists during Interzum Forum Italy 2024.

Between Talks, Trend stage and Product stage this first edition presented a variety of themes and formats to meet all the needs of the sectors involved. Among the 2024 trends we observed a strong interest in:

  • Innovative materials: the use of recycled and sustainable materials is increasing. At Sititaly, in fact, we presented our polyurethane seats, demonstrating how sustainability can go hand in hand with design and comfort.
  • Advanced technology solutions: digitalization of production processes and integration of new technologies can improve product efficiency and quality.
  • Design and functionality: increasing attention to ergonomic and functional design, which responds to the demands of an increasingly demanding market.

Sititaly in step with the 2024 trends

In an edition that saw sustainability and innovation at the forefront, we could only show the innovative solutions, in terms of materials and construction systems, that we put in place to create products that meet both aesthetic and functional needs.

In fact, the models on display are the result of our continuous research on the sustainability of the product, which translates into a constructive system that promotes the separability of the components during disposal (ideal to optimize the recycling phase) as well as the possibility to reuse materials.

Interzum was an opportunity to share our vision with the public, contributing to the discussion on future trends in the industry. In addition, many visitors were able to experience our free service “Sit with us”, a technical consultancy that allows companies to transform the idea of a chair into a tangible reality, optimizing the project in all its phases, avoiding low-performing alternatives that could cause waste of time and money.

Sititaly at Interzum presents a new way of designing seating

Interzum, the world’s leading trade fair for furniture subcontracting, has just come to an end and we took part from 9 to 12 May.

The theme of this edition was “Shaping the change” and was developed by the participants following the common thread of Neo-Ecology.

Sustainability, technological innovation, attention to the environment and recycling are the aspects that must now be put first in the order of priorities of the furniture supply chain.

And Interzum was an opportunity for comparison to understand where we are.

We at Sititaly have welcomed this theme with pleasure, since our company has made sustainability one of its key points.

Sititaly, in fact, offers solutions with reduced environmental impact since each of our seats is designed with the utmost respect for the circular economy, starting from the use of mono-material and the choice of bio materials.

BIO polyurethane is made using renewable raw materials such as vegetable fibers (also NO FOOD) and does not contain solvents or chemical additives harmful to the environment.

The recyclability of polyurethane can be obtained in various ways, including waste-to-energy in special plants that convert polyurethane into thermal energy, or by grinding and reuse in by-products.

To this is added the fact that SITITALY has created a new seating construction system that contributes to a further step forward in eco-sustainability.

Our particular construction system involves the use of rigid structural polyurethane instead of the classic metal frame (difficult to separate from the flexible part during disposal).

This central structure is then coupled to the flexible part by light gluing or other systems that allow easy separation during disposal, in order to facilitate the recyclability of the different components.

In addition, at the end of the product life, the rigid part can be reused and only the flexible part can be replaced, thus contributing to a considerable reduction in the part to be disposed of or otherwise to be treated.

The result is a product that perfectly meets the demands of a sustainable economy and meets the needs of a market that today is increasingly sensitive to production methods and recycling.

The combination of rigid and flexible polyurethane that we have developed, in addition to promoting the recyclability of the product, also has advantages in terms of comfort, quality and greater freedom in the shapes and thicknesses of the various parts.

All this allows to create seats with lighter and stronger structures, as well as ensuring a longer life.

At Interzum we presented three new product lines that follow this eco-friendly philosophy, based on innovation: TESSA, MICOL and AGAR.

We are satisfied with the feedback received during the days of the fair, as well as the newspaper article published in Il Sole 24 Ore in which we talk about our way of working attentive to the sustainability of products.
